Tax Day Tea Party protests set across state

The Tax Day Tea Party protest is scheduled to begin at noon on April 15, according to Chase Rhen, one of the event's local organizers.
Rhen didn't say how long the protest will last, but indicated that it could last for two or three hours. Participants will protest against perceived wasteful federal government spending. The event's Web site, www.taxdayteaparty.com, lists the other known state venues for the protest:

- In Boise, the protest is slated to last from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Protesters will begin at Ann Morrison Park and march along Capitol Boulevard to Capitol Park.
- In Coeur d'Alene, the protest is set to begin at 3 p.m. The calendar indicates no ending time. Protesters will meet at Independence Point in the City Park.
- In Council, the protest is slated to begin at noon. The calendar indicates no ending time. Protesters will meet at the City Park downtown.
- In Idaho Falls, the protest will begin at 6:30 p.m. The calendar indicates no ending time. Protesters will meet at the Veterans Memorial on Memorial Drive.
- In Priest River, the protest is slated to begin at noon. The calendar indicates no ending time. Protesters will meet at City Hall on High Street.
- In Rexburg, the protest is planned to last from noon to 2 p.m. Protesters will meet at the Teton River Bridge near Jack in the Box restaurant and Albertson's.
- In Twin Falls, the protest is slated to last from noon to 1 p.m. Protesters will meet on the front lawn of the court house.
Rhen said the Web site may not list every venue for the Tea Party protest. He said there is probably a total of 20 to 30 different Idaho venues for the event.
