(06/01/10) -- As the election season approaches, politicians might find themselves in a tough race to win voter confidence.

The top issue among voters continues to be the state of the economy and how lawmakers are dealing with it.

Our exclusive ABC 12 EPIC-MRA poll finds that 67 percent of the people we surveyed say Congress is being too partisan in how it handles economic issues.

The poll finds voters split when it comes to performance by state lawmakers.

Voters blame Democrats and Republicans when it comes down to letting partisanship overshadow addressing critical issues facing our state. Nationally, this year the tea party has taken center stage as an alternative to the traditional political parties.

Now it looks as if more state residents support the tea party effort than ever before.

According to our poll, 40 percent say they support the movement.
