Under: Tea Party
You elected a new Pocatello Mayor and City Councilman who said they wanted to reduce the size and cost of government.
If history teaches us anything, these newly elected champions of liberty will be patted on the back by those who elected them and told to do a good job. Our champions will then go about their job, surrounded by bureaucracy (which runs the government), and they will soon become part of the problem like most of those who have gone before them.
This has been the downfall of liberty in America. Patriots work to elect "their guys" and then loose interest in the issues once they're elected because we can trust "our guys." Worse still is when good people defend bad behavior because they're "our guys."
If you continue to do what you've always done, you'll continue to get what you've always got.
We the People must govern again! We must put principle above party and expose corruption and abuses of power at every level of government.
What needs to be changed in Pocatello? In Bannock County? How about the state of Idaho? What should our elected representatives do differently than those who have gone before them? They need to hear it from you.
Could our city become the easiest place to start a business? Could we become the lowest taxed county in the state (instead of "the highest")? Could we set an example that others would want to imitate? Could this all result in sending champions of liberty to represent us honorably in Boise and Washington D.C.?
It could if we each educate ourselves, our family and our neighbors in principles of liberty while also getting involved and holding our elected representatives accountable. It could if we each look at the opportunities below and commit to at least one of them.
