Tea Party
We were down in Mesquite to close the house for the Summer and decided to drive over to Searchlight and see what the fuss was about. The first picture was taken where we parked...at least 3 mile from the event. We arrived in the event area just as Palin was finishing, so much of the crowd was exiting, having been there 2-6 hours. We met people from Alabama, Florida, New York, Michigan and even western Canada. The local TV news estimated the crowd at 8K, but I'm sure it was 12-15K. The we... Continue reading ...

House Bill 391 was signed into state law on 3/17/2010 by the governor, and becomes effective 7/1/2010. This law protects us from Obama's evil efforts to socialize medicine - we don't have to pay for, nor use it. Read Section 39-9003 to see for yourself. Thought you'd like to know. You can check it out for yourself at http://www.legislature.idaho.gov/legislation/2010/H0391.htm. The voting record in the State Legislature is at the end. The bill was sponsored by Representative Jim Clark (Ha... Continue reading ...

In the last 6 months or so, the operation of ambulance services has been a significant issue here in Blackfoot. The current operator of the ambulance - the Blackfoot fire department, has been unable/willing to operate within a budget and demanding additional money from the county. From what I understand, this is not an isolated incident. Bannock county has had similar issues with the Pocatello fire department. The Senate Judiciary and Rules Committee will be considering a bill to mandate... Continue reading ...

Voting LocationsWell, it’s that time again. It’s, once again, time to feed the School District 25 ‘kitty’; their insatiable demand for more, more and MORE! It seems almost impossible, but it was only last year that SD 25 was demanding a $7.5 million ‘supplemental levy’ to (once again) ‘save the teachers’, or some other absolute need. Of course, we, the voters, saw the fallacy in that attempt at extortion and turned the supplemental levy away, only to have the District retur... Continue reading ...

In making his decision, the Governor weighed the constitutional aspects of the bill with its fiscal impact on Utah taxpayers. "There are times when the state needs to push back against continued encroachment from the federal government. Sending the message that we will stand up for a proper balance between the state and federal government i... Continue reading ...

By Dustin Hursthttp://www.idahoreporter.com/2010/harwoods-gun-fight-stalls-for-now/Rep. R.J. “Dick” Harwood’s, R-St. Maries, gun fight with the feds has stalled on two concerns raised by lawmakers: one being that it may be unconstitutional, and the other being that the marking to be engraved on guns produced in Idaho might not be specific enough. According to the text of the legislation, the bill would seek to make Idaho “the freest state in the Union” and would prohibit the federal ... Continue reading ...
