Last year the Idaho Legislature passed a mandatory midwifery licensure law that has put at least 22% of traditional midwives out of work and has left many mothers and their babies without midwifery services for their home births. Pocatello has lost its only traditional midwife because of this law. Representative Pete Nielsen introduced legislation in the House State Affairs Committee on Monday, Feb. 21st, that would restore to the families of Idaho freedom of choice for their home births by a... By Layne Hansenhttp://www.examiner.com/x-39072-Idaho-Falls-Conservative-ExaminerIt used to be that the further you got away from Washington D.C. the less what goes on there affected you. No more. The federal government's reach into 'Everyday Americans' lives is becoming more profound, more recognizable, and more expensive. This change has happened because modern technology allows us to see events as they unfold, federal lawmakers are passing bills that will directly affect every American, an... Continue reading ...
Democrats Under the Influence (DUI) What an embarrassment!
Edgar Malepeai BOISE - Pocatello Sen. Edgar Malepeai pleaded guilty to a DUI charge in Boise on Thursday. He will pay a $732 fine, serve one year probation, and lose his driving privileges for 90 days. He was also ordered to attend educational classes and a DUI victim's panel. It gets crazier. After being arrested in December, Malepeai was elected minority caucus chair by his Democratic colleagues. Are they all DUI? These are the same peo... Continue reading ...
Rep. Hart’s Illegal Immigration Bill Killed in House State Affairs
BOISE - In a one hour Thursday morning hearing, the House State Affairs Committee heard testimony on House Bill 497 which would penalize businesses that employ illegal aliens. The bill was patterned after legislation first passed by the Arizona Legislature in 2007. Immediately upon passage, the Phoenix business community sued the state of Arizona over passage of the measure in Federal court. In 2008, the law was upheld by... Continue reading ...

By Chuck BaldwinAs far as grassroots activism goes, the surge in Tea Parties across America is one of the more encouraging developments to recently take place. It reminds me of the "Conservative Revolution" of 1994, when the GOP reclaimed both the US Senate and House of Representatives. At that time, it had been over 40 years since the Republican Party controlled both the US House and Senate. And, between the two, the House victories were the most significant. Spurred mostly by the election of... Continue reading ...

http://www.pocatelloshops.com/new_blogs/politics/?p=5807by Craig L. Bosley, MD Contrary to the wishes of Congress, the Supreme Court and the lower courts, “we the people” in our capacity as jurors and state legislators have the power to nullify laws we find unconstitutional. Did the founding fathers opine on this power? In 1790, James Wilson, one of the signers of the Declaration of Independence and one of the original six Supreme Court justices said, “Suppose . . . a difference of senti... Continue reading ...

The pressing need to revitalize “the Militia of the several States”
America is being buried in an avalanche of assaults upon her National independence, integrity, and identity—upon her economic prosperity and social stability—upon her cultural heritage—and even upon her ability to survive as a viable political and economic entity. The worst of these include: - Attacks by international “terrorists”—which, whatever their true sources and actual potentials for harm to persons and pro...
